Stop And Take Some Time to Think
Sunday, November 27, 2011 7:49If you have been laid off recently and are evaluating your options for getting back into the workforce, it may be a good idea to take a little time and really think it over before just jumping right in. Many people after a lay off think that they should get right back into the game as soon as possible. Sure, you want and need to make sure that you can pay all your bills and meet all of your basic needs. This is especially true if you have a family and are responsible for one or more children who depend on you for food every day. But if your situation is not immediately dire, it may be in your best interest to stop and breathe for a minute after your layoff. Think about it, this could actually be a great opportunity for you. So many people have been in your same situation at this point, employers aren’t going to be pressing all the same hard lines that they used to. They are more open to the fact that some people have had to make career changes, or chosen to spend time in between jobs sharpening up their skills and learning new things. This could actually be a really great chance for you to try something new.
One great thing you could consider doing this time is going to dental assistant school. Dental assistance is an excellent career choice, and these schools are rightly popular with people seeking new careers because they provide such a great opportunity for the future. There is good money in the dentistry field, good and reliable hours, and there is always going to be a need for dentists and dental assistants. Plus you get the opportunity to help other people while making a decent, honest living for yourself. Everyone wins.
